Summary: The location of the hotel is in Fenhiqu and this is out of the way if your primary destination is Alishan. I was told that no bus goes direct to Alishan from Fenhiqu only a couple go to Chiayi City. The city is a better base if getting rooms in Alishan is difficult because buses to Alishan leave every hour. But Fenqihu itself is a nice quiet tourist area with a quaint train station and lots of forest trails and not crowded. Yahu Hotel is located in the old street and very close to the train and bus stations. The reception office is in another building across the pedestrian street. The staff is very kind and accommodating. She even accompanied me to the bus station so I won't be able to miss the only bus in the morning. If you want peace and quiet in a forested environment then Fenhiqu is a place to go. No crowds!
