Summary: Yangshuo City has become a big tourist hub (mainly Chinese tourists). The Yangshuo Mountain Retreat is a short taxi (electric scooter ride) to Yangshuo and the surrounding attractions, but sits on a quiet bend of the picturesque Yulong river (almost rivals the Li River Karst tower area in beauty and is a lot less busy). During the day a number of the bamboo rafts with one of two folks floating down the river go by. A night their grass riverfront restaurant is bucolic. The staff speak good English and seem especially understanding of Western tourists. I would definitely stay here again.
