Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The architecture and interior design are a genuine surprise, standing far above the standard for a modern hotel. There is a clear sense of intention and refined taste throughout, particularly in the thoughtfully designed lobby area, elevators, and hallways. The aesthetic and functional details in the room are excellent, even in the most affordable rooms like the one I stayed in. For instance, there is a nightlight button by the bed that activates only a subtle light under the nightstand and under the bathroom sink. A similar thoughtful solution is available for reading lights. More importantly, everything feels fresh and clean, and the daily housekeeping is consistently thorough. Lastly, the room is completely silent, and the air conditioning works well. The gym and pool area are spacious and well kept, with plenty of natural light. The gym is well-equipped for a proper workout and the music there is good. Some might have scored the location low since Dalang is not the most central area in Shenzhen. My take on this is that if you are going to stay in Dalang, its a top choice location wise. It is right next to a beautiful, peaceful, and uncrowded park with lush greenery that you can reach without crossing busy streets. This makes it excellent for calm morning runs. And whenever you want to get downtown, it is only a 10-minute walk away. All in all, I loved the place.

Negative: Most of the staff represent the quality and culture you expect at this level. However, a few can appear a bit "switched off," either lacking proper training or passion for hospitality. In some cases it may be due to language barriers for non-Chinese speakers like myself. The sauna has been repurposed as a storage room and they haven’t hidden the fact very well, which is a pity for a five-star hotel. If the goal is to save energy, an ok compromise would be to make available by appointment. As with many hotel gyms, the free weights are quite limited, only going up to 20 kg. It would be a significant improvement if the gym increased the range to better accommodate a proper workout. There is definitely space for it.
